Platystele sp. -by tags Platystele vetulus,it is not properly. Probably it is Platystele beatrics or Platystele vellota or Platystele ortiziana or Platystele dasyglossa or do not know.

How on earth can you tell? I bought one tagged as Platystele umbellata, which it is deffinately not (This is an easy one to identify, I found out just recently)
How can you tell a vetulus from a beatricis or vellota? I tried, but not a chance.

Not many similar Platystele . Platystele umbellata I have at home https://www.flickr.com/photos/66109315@N06/sets/72157635197997877/ . Is to be found in databases,necessary https://orchid.unibas.ch/iconography.simplesearch.php or http://www.epidendra.org ,And also ask the advice of friends in South America.

 

I bought a true Platystele umbellata this Feburary. It looks quite different from the one I bought before. The leaves are a lot bigger and more succulent. The one I bought before could be anything from vetulus to beatricis or velota, they all look the same to me - at least in the pictures in the internet. I've never had the chance to see any Platystele in real life.

I try to take some pictures when it is blooming again. The tricky part is to provide the right conditions to get it blooming, when you don't know which Platystele you are growing.
